MUNCIE, IN – Muncie Women of Color (MWOC) invites prospective members to join Muncie’s newest membership-based community organization.
Prospective female members who identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or as a woman of color are invited to attend an informational meeting on Thursday, October 19, at 5:30 pm at the Muncie downtown YWCA, 310 E. Charles St., with the founding members, who are:

● Rigel Jackson
● Jency Roshan
● Tania Said
● Tanya Shaneyfelt
The women recognized a need to organize a group of, for, and by women of color. Tanya Shaneyfelt said, “I always grew up in very ethnically and racially diverse communities, so I never understood how representation was impactful to a person, until I moved to an area that has less diversity. That’s why I jumped at the opportunity to become part of the MWOC and help shape a sense of community for Muncie’s women of color.”

Founded in 2023, Muncie Women of Color is the hub and the heart for Muncie women who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. We are a women-run coalition to champion and nurture the community of BIPOC women as a place to commiserate, collaborate, and celebrate. Through social engagement, we and our community will nurture and empower each other to be recognized as part of the global majority and shake up the status quo.
