MUNCIE, IN — The Turkey Trot is Cardinal Greenways’ classic Thanksgiving Day event. The non-competitive event is for walkers and runners of all ages and abilities, along with their dogs. Beginning at the Historic Wysor Street Depot at 8:00 a.m., participants have the option of walking or running different routes along the beautiful Cardinal Greenway and the scenic White River Greenway.
“We encourage everyone to come out and build up their appetites on Thanksgiving morning. We’re so grateful for our strong community that supported us throughout the pandemic and the challenges it brought along. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come.” said Angie Pool, CEO of Cardinal Greenways.
Hot cider, coffee, fruit, and other refreshments will be served at the Depot. Participants are encouraged to wear something fun to show off their Thanksgiving & Turkey Trot spirit. Don’t miss out on the new inflatable turkey for some great photo opportunities!
Cardinal Greenways is asking those who sign up to bring a non-perishable food item or hygiene items. All your generous donations will go to the Family Resource Center in Muncie. Non-perishable food items such as canned meat, beans, fruits and vegetables, crackers, and pasta are all acceptable. Hygiene items like first aid kits, toilet paper, toothpaste (adult and children’s), and diapers (sizes 5-7, 2T-5T) are much needed.
“After holding the Turkey Trot virtually over the last two years, we are thrilled to invite everyone out to participate and enjoy the trails with family and friends.” Pool said.

Participants will also be able to register onsite the day of the event at 7:30 a.m. Funds from the event support care and maintenance for the trail.
