FORT WAYNE, IN— The start of a new year can feel refreshing. After twelve months, a blank slate seemingly offers numerous possibilities for days ahead. For some, getting organized is the first step. And this includes taking a quick look at your Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) account to make sure everything is up to date.

Update Contact Information on I&M Account

Has a phone number changed? Or possibly an email address? It is important that gets updated in one’s I&M account. Why? The contact information provided is how we contact customers throughout the year. If a planned outage is scheduled, we call the number customers have listed in their account to provide a heads up. This call comes days ahead of the outage and includes date, time, location and outage duration. If contact information does change, log into the account to make the switch and stay informed.

Set Personalized Notifications

Customers can modify the notifications they want to receive. This includes outage, billing and payment updates by text and/or email. These alerts can be updated at any time through an I&M account. Sign up to also receive I&M’s email newsletter, featuring various topics, updates on program offerings and information on promotions.

Know Where to Find Information

Knowing where to find information to stay up to date is important. Whether outage maps or safety tips, stay in the loop with these resources:

Complete Home Energy Profile

Everyone uses energy differently. Through a series of questions, including listing source of the home’s heat, size of home, type of air conditioning unit, typical thermostat settings and how many people live in the home, complete a home energy profile. Within information unique to a home, this profile helps generate usage awareness and create goals to possibly save energy, and money, in the months to come.
