MUNCIE, IN – Community members can receive no-cost COVID-19 tests on Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Open Door Health Services administration site in Muncie. The site is located at 220 S. Walnut Street. Distribution will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

The public is invited to pick up a supply for homes, workplaces, or civic groups. Additionally, Open Door patients may pick up Covid tests during any visit to an Open Door health center location.

Tests are also currently available at no cost through a federal government program. Households can order 4 free tests, with home delivery, at covidtest.gov or by calling 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489).

The updated 2024-2025 Covid vaccine is available to the public at Open Door Urgent Care. The updated version targets current strains. The Center for Disease Control recommends everyone age 6 months and older receive the 2024-2025 vaccine. People who have recently had Covid may delay vaccination by 3 months. Covid vaccination at Open Door remains no cost; insurance is billed when applicable, but it is not required.

Flu and RSV vaccinations are also available to the public at Open Door Urgent Care. CDC recommends flu vaccination for everyone age 6 months and older, with limited exceptions. Full flu and RSV vaccination guidelines are at cdc.gov.

In 2023, more than 916,300 people were hospitalized and more than 75,000 died due to Covid, the CDC reports. More than 44,900 people died from flu complications in the 2023-24 flu season.
