MUNCIE, IN—On June 22, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Morrows Meadows in Yorktown Indiana, the Muncie Area Amateur Radio Club will gear up to host a fun day, filled with lots of talking on the radio.  All who attend can talk to other people from all over the world on via amateur radio.

Wikipedia defines amateur radio this way: Amateur radio, also known as ham radio, is the use of the radio frequency spectrum for purposes of non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, private recreation, radiosport, contesting, and emergency communications.

The event will be an educational one for all who wish to give “talking on the airwaves “a try and help grow interest in the amazing world of Amateur Radio.

There will be  time to help educate others on the importance of Radio Amateurs with a Foxhunt.  You will  try to find the hidden transmitter which will be a person from the Muncie Area Amateur Radio club. Through the Foxhunt, people get to work together to try and find the fox and while they are working together, they get to learn more about the field of Amateur Radio. According to the Muncie Area Amateur Radio Club’s President Campbell Reed, this event is open to the public and you do not need to have an amateur radio license to operate on-the-air at this event.

There will be a get-on-the-air station for the public to operate.  So bring your friends and family to come out and explore the hobby of amateur radio.
