MUNCIE, IN—The Muncie Visitors Bureau is excited to announce its rebranding as Destination: Muncie. This new name and identity reflect the city’s vibrant and diverse offerings as a tourism destination. The rebranding initiative was spearheaded via collaborative partnerships with hometown agency, Intersection, and The Goss Agency of North Carolina, a renowned tourism creative agency. The rebranding initiative marks a new chapter and fresh messaging for the county and city. With the new branding and marketing efforts, Destination: Muncie’s goal is to attract a new surge of outside visitors and boost the local economy.
Destination: Muncie is more than a name, it is a goal to showcase the city’s rich history, thriving arts and culture environment, and unique world-class attractions. The rebranding activities have included: a new website, a social media overhaul across platforms, a dynamic modern logo, and extensive creative materials designed to capture the essence of Muncie’s appeal and charm while telling a rich story.
“We are thrilled for the collaboration with these two stellar firms resulting in a dynamic rebranding launch, said Kevin Kirby, CEO & Executive Director of Destination: Muncie, adding that “the rebranding emphasizes our commitment to promoting Muncie as a regional—and beyond—tourism destination for visitors for years to come.” He continued, “The Goss Agency and Intersection are outstanding firms and with their deeply rooted experience and seasoned expertise, we can effectively communicate the appeal of the city of Muncie and the surrounding Delaware County to a wider audience.”
Intersection is a Muncie-based creative marketing agency that played a crucial role in the development of a new website with a fresh, vibrant look complementing all marketing tools. Their extensive knowledge of the local landscape consistently helped the team to navigate through the process telling the new story of Destination: Muncie and the creation of not just a website, but a “wow-site.”
The Goss Agency possesses a history of successful tourism branding. The team conducted extensive research to understand Muncie’s rich history and unique selling assets to better connect the target audience. The creative teams of both firms worked together with the findings and defined a messaging that best showcases the city’s attractions, outdoors, and arts and entertainment scene.
On February 29th, a launch party was held to christen the new name, trademarked logo, as well as introduce the agency partners to the community. Destination: Muncie’s board were amongst those in attendance. Jarod Walls, board president, toasted to the team, the agencies, and the community while renewing the commitment to the “Hoosier Hospitality” the county is known for.
The evening was also the debut of Destination: Muncie’s reimagined line of merchandise. The assortment is to include tried and true sportswear for men and women including pieces like hooded sweatshirts and ball caps. Also, continuing to broaden the offering to satisfy a swath of savvy tourists and locals alike.
The reimagined gift shop, playfully nick-named “the Cat’s Pajamas,” will carry not only the Destination: Muncie’s merchandise, but feature an assortment from other staple Muncie local businesses and organizations, like Debbie’s Handmade Soaps and DWNTWN. The shop will also feature and ‘Artist of the Month’ to allow for exposure to local artist’s wares.
