MUNCIE, IN– Pursuing a certificate or degree can be affordable and lead to a great career. Americans need options to maximize their earning potential while saving money to obtain the skills to be workforce ready. Inflation is at a 40 year high and Hoosiers are feeling the pinch of rising costs of gas, groceries, healthcare, and utilities. These rapidly rising costs of living are negatively impacting local families, especially students. Attending Ivy Tech Community College is an option that makes sense.
Ivy Tech Muncie-Henry County is uniquely navigating these issues by offering a structured schedule along with banded tuition. The benefit of a structured schedule is that students can get a full-time schedule with courses that are offered only two or three days per week. Students are making fewer trips to campus, giving them the opportunity to plan their work and family schedules more efficiently.
Banded tuition allows students taking 12 or more credit hours to pay only $2,495 per semester. Ivy Tech also saves students money by continuing to offer free textbooks for the 2023 academic year. Many courses are offered in 8-week time frames allowing students to graduate sooner by taking more classes at no additional cost.
“We know that the effects of inflation are affecting families, and we know those especially feeling strained are students,” Chancellor Jeffrey D. Scott said. “Choosing Ivy Tech adds value on your investment with the ability to take free classes above 12 credit hours; free textbooks and completing quicker resulting in the opportunity to get a high wage in demand job with little to no debt.”
“Muncie’s manufacturing footprint is increasing. Employers are hiring with competitive pay and benefits packages,” said Elizabeth Rowray, Chamber President for Muncie and Delaware County. “Obtaining workforce credentials can lead to opportunities to have a career locally, increase employee marketability and help Muncie families increase their earnings.”
According to a Kiplinger forecast, the inflation bubble is expected to burst into 2023 and its prediction is the inflation rate will drop to about 6.3 percent. However, as families are still deciding how to increase their earning potential, attending Ivy Tech is a smart option. For more information about Ivy Tech’s programs email askmuncie@ivytech.edu.
