Sarah Hudelson, Recruiting and Retention Specialist for The Townsend Corporation, said the company values all of its employees and is committed to keeping them safe.
“The Townsend Corporation treats people like they’re a person, not just an employee,” she said. “That’s reflected in the compensation and benefits and how everyone works as one team with a goal. If you show a willingness and desire to grow, you’ll be offered opportunities to take on challenges and learn more about the company as a whole.”
One of the company’s core philosophies is growth from within, encouraging advancement by all employees. Hudelson said the training processes are terrific and leadership within The Townsend Corporation helps people feel comfortable in their roles.
“Leadership is always willing to help and takes the time to understand what the challenges are,” she said.
For crews going in after storms to help get the electricity restored, those challenges can be big ones. But all employees of TheTownsend Corporation work to ensure the crews are safe and have what they need to do their jobs. At the same time, the company understands its employees have obligations outside of work as well.
“We do all we can to allow our employees to have a balance between their professional and personal lives,” Hudelson said. “None of us live to work; we work so we can live.”
However, The Townsend Corporation also knows work doesn’t have to be boring in order to be productive. In fact, Hudelson pointed out that the Muncie office environment is fun.
“Everyone knows how to be friendly and social but remains very productive,” she said.
Employees at The Townsend Corporation – some of whom started at the bottom and worked their way up – are often long-term and thrive in the family-like environment. The company has certainly grown from the small business it began as in 1945.
“We are an ever-growing company, and a wonderful place to work,” Hudelson said.
