Muncie, IN – Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb has appointed Amy Wyse as the new student representative on the Ball State University Board of Trustees. Gov. Holcomb also announced that current trustee Brian Gallagher was reappointed to a four-year term, which is effective through 2024.
Ms. Wyse will serve a two-year term through 2023.
“Ms. Wyse is an outstanding student, and she clearly has a passion for Ball State and for making an impact on her campus community,” Ball State Board of Trustees Chair Renae Conley said. “We look forward to working with Ms. Wyse, and welcome her insights from a student’s perspective.”
Ms. Wyse is a junior triple majoring in International Business, Economics, and Spanish. She has served on a number of organizations on campus, including the Student Government Association (off-campus caucus senator), the Delta Zeta sorority, Women in Business, Western Equestrian Club, Cardinal Catholic, and as an Honors College Peer Mentor.
An Elkhart, Indiana, native and Elkhart Central High School graduate, Ms. Wyse also recently started an internship position with the Community Foundation of Elkhart County.
“I would like to thank Gov. Holcomb for appointing me as the student representative to the Ball State Board of Trustees,” Ms. Wyse said. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with my fellow Board members to learn, advocate for change, and improve and serve the Ball State community.”
This trustee position at Ball State affords the chance for students who are passionate and knowledgeable about higher education to represent student perspectives while making administrative decisions for the University.
Ms. Wyse will be responsible for understanding the purpose of Ball State as an institution, developing a vision for its future, and relating effectively to the needs of its faculty, administration, and students.
Ms. Wyse replaces L. Rebeca Mena, who recently finished her two-year term as Ball State’s student trustee. In May, Ms. Mena earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State’s College of Sciences and Humanities.
“We are grateful for Ms. Mena’s many contributions to the Board, and we look forward to following her career now as a proud Ball State graduate,” Ms. Conley said.
Mr. Gallagher, a 1981 Ball State alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in social work, is president and CEO of United Way Worldwide, the world’s largest privately funded nonprofit organization. An alumni representative on the Ball State Board of Trustees, Mr. Gallagher was elected the Board’s assistant secretary in January 2020.
