By MAP Task Force 3—
Muncie, IN—In January, 2021, Task Force 3 organized a group of MAP board members and committed community leaders to develop a “pro-Muncie” marketing campaign. The idea was to create a way that people could collaboratively share the things that they love about living in Muncie while also observing safe social distancing guidelines.
Among the many ideas discussed was a quarterly themed photo contest that in which people could share images of their favorite features of our fair city. The first of these contests kicks off this month with “SpringZing,” an homage to a once-annual downtown family event.
Participants will post their favorite springtime photos on Facebook or Instagram with @MuncieActionPlan and #SpringZing hashtags to enter. Photos can be of flowers blooming, birds chirping, open-toe sandals making their debut, or anything that says “spring is in the air” in Muncie, IN.
Participants are also encouraged to include a caption, description, and location.
April 30th, one winner will be selected from each of three categories:
- Best-Loved Award – The photo with the most social media likes and shares. So post your photo and spread the word.
- Judge’s Choice Award – Each contest will have a local celebrity “guest judge” to select a winner. Our inaugural judge will be Judy Benken, owner of Normandy Flowers in Muncie.
- Storyteller Award – As determined by the members of MAP Task Force 3, the photo that best tells a story that fits the SpringZing theme.
Winners will receive a large canvas print of their winning photo, courtesy of Aspect 6 Creative; a DWNTWN gift basket full of goodies from downtown Muncie businesses, courtesy of Muncie Downtown Development Partnership; a “surprise” Muncie Map Company gift, courtesy of Polcz Volbrecht Homes at Coldwell Banker; and of course, bragging rights.
Official rules are below. For more information, contact springzing@muncieproud.org.
Task Force 3 is chaired by Susan Volbrecht, from Coldwell Banker.
