Muncie, Ind. – The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc., through the Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund, is awarding $890 to the Selma Athletic League.

Selma Athletic League offers baseball and softball opportunities for children of all ages in the community. This grant will defray the cost of improvements needed to run an effective baseball and softball league for youth in Selma.

The Liberty Perry Selma Town Endowment Fund started as an Acorn Fund with a small initial investment and then grew to a mighty oak with the help of residents and a match from the Foundation’s Rural Philanthropy Fund. The charge was led by members of the town council, township government, and the local school system to build a fund to support projects for the local community. The endowment makes grants annually to support projects in Liberty Township, Perry Township, or the Town of Selma that are reviewed and recommended to The Community Foundation board by a committee of dedicated residents. Applications are accepted annually on May 1.

The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. is a publicly supported philanthropic institution governed by a volunteer board of local citizens. The Foundation manages contributions donated by individuals, businesses, and corporations as a permanent community endowment. Distributions from these funds are given back to the community in the form of grants to nonprofit organizations and agencies. To date, more than $54 million has been awarded to enrich the lives of the residents of Muncie and Delaware County.
