Muncie, IN— The community is invited to help save animals with style on March 6 during the Runway for Rescues fashion show event. The event, led by Kishel Photography, features local kids and teens modeling clothes from Buckle, as well as a few of the animals available for adoption at Animal Rescue Fund (ARF).
“I wanted to create an event that would involve high school seniors while also benefiting a local charity,” Amanda Kishel, owner of Kishel Photography, said.
Kishel, who has adopted both a cat and a dog from ARF, said she chose the rescue center because of her own love for animals and knowledge of the shelter’s needs. The event has continued in partnership with Amber’s and Buckle for the past seven years.
“Once I started talking about my idea to the other businesses, they jumped onboard and have helped grow the show to what it is today,” Kishel said.
This year’s show will be the first to feature young kids and male teen models. Previously, only teen girls had walked the runway.
“I wanted to add a new dimension to the show this year, and the fact that Buckle has a men’s line and is growing their youth clothing line—it seemed to make perfect sense to add those to the show,” Kishel said.
With all proceeds benefiting ARF, Runway for Rescues has become the shelter’s largest fundraising event of the year. Last year, the show raised approximately $6,500 for ARF.
Tickets are available on the Muncie Civic Theatre website. General Admission tickets cost $10, and VIP tickets are available for $40. VIP tickets include prime seating, a VIP reception before the show and a gift bag with items from local businesses.
The event is from 7:30–9 p.m. March 6 at Muncie Civic Theatre. The VIP reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., and doors for General Admission will open at 7 p.m.
