Muncie, IN—Local educators took center stage at the Back To School Teachers Store’s 2nd Annual Teacher Appreciation Gala on August 9th at MadJax in Muncie. “We are about inspiring and celebrating teachers,” said BTSTS President Megan Quirk. “We aim to support teachers who do extraordinary things in the classroom every day.” The Back To School Teachers Store, a local non-profit, provides quality classroom supplies, at no cost, to kids in need through teachers and schools in Delaware County year round. Last year the local non-profit donated $850,000 worth of school supplies to teachers at no cost.
The BTSTS Teachers Gala was sponsored by Ball State University – Online and Strategic Learning, City of Muncie – Mayor’s Office, Muncie Kiwanis, and Pridemark Construction and in partnership with Delaware County’s Paths To Quality Program and Muncie Community Schools. Additionally, other community business partners assisted with the awards presentations including Mutual Bank, Quirk and Hunter Attorneys at Law, and Stallings Wealth Management. Steve Lindell from WLBC 104.1 FM – Woof Boom Radio was the event’s emcee.
Top teachers were selected by their respective organizations.

Emarie Warner – Paths To Quality Level 3 Teacher of the Year – Wes-Del Pre-school
Lois Noggle – Paths To Quality Level 4 Teacher of the Year – Playtime Child Care
MCS Top Honors:
Kristofer Scholtes, MCS Overall District Winner – Muncie Central High Teacher of the Year.
Devon Barbosa, MCS Elementary Level District Winner – South View Elementary Teacher of the Year.
