Muncie, IN—Carol Ammon, Youth Opportunity Center (YOC) customer relations director, was honored for her commitment to child abuse prevention in our community. Ammon was given an appreciation award by Prevent Child Abuse (PCA) of Delaware County on April 7, 2017 at City Hall.

PCA President Patty Duncan said in her letter of recognition, “We are pleased to have people like you in our community who have been committed to educating individuals regarding the nature and causes of child abuse, providing information concerning effective prevention strategies, [and] advocating for public policies and programs which enhance the quality of life for children and families…in Delaware County.”

Ammon, whose career has been spent in child services, has held voluntary leadership positions with PCA Delaware County and the Delaware County Prevention Council. “I have spent a combined total of 30-plus years on these boards where I have worked to protect young people and to provide them with healthy, happy and drug-free lives.”

YOC Foundation Executive Director Polly Craig commended Ammon saying, “From serving as the executive director at the Youth Service Bureau of Delaware County, which merged with the YOC in 1999, to her service as the YOC’s customer relations director, Carol has improved the lives of thousands of youth involved in the juvenile justice system. We are pleased that she has received this much deserved recognition for her professional and voluntary service.”

PCA of Delaware County is a chapter of Prevent Child Abuse Indiana ™ whose motto is “making Indiana a better, safer place for Indiana’s most precious resources – our children.”  This year marks the 40th anniversary of PCA Indiana.
