As summer begins to turn to fall, several local organizations are coordinating to bring two exciting community events to Yorktown. Each of these events is free to attend and open to the public.

First, the Yorktown Council for the Arts will be holding their second installment of the “Movies in the Meadow” series on Saturday, September 3, beginning at 7:00 pm in Morrow’s Meadow. This will be the second showing in the Movies in the Meadow series, with the first event being held in June and drawing close to 200 people. This month’s showing will be The Princess Bride. The Yorktown Council for the Arts will be holding a paper lantern launch prior to the movie. Paper lanterns will be available for $3 each or two for $5. Concessions will also be available for $1 each.

Second, the Town of Yorktown and Ball State Sports will be holding Yorktown’s first-ever Food Truck Fest on Friday, September 9 from 4:00-8:00 pm in Morrow’s Meadow. This event will be held on the night of the Yorktown/Delta varsity football game, which will begin at 7:30. Confirmed vendors include MT’s Smokin’ BBQ, Puerta al Paraiso, Grand Grilling To Go and more. WLBC will be providing a Live Action Broadcast of the event while Charlie Cardinal and the Code Red Dancers will also be joining in on the fun. Parking will be available in Morrow’s Meadow, and individuals will be permitted to tailgate.

For more information about either of these events, please visit the Town of Yorktown Facebook page or call 765-759-4003. To stay up-to-date on upcoming community events in Yorktown, sign up for the “What’s Happening in Yorktown?” e-newsletter.
