Delaware County Family Recovery Court Celebrates New Program Graduates

MUNCIE, IN—On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, the Delaware County Family Recovery Court will honor the latest group of program graduates. The graduates will add six to the program’s total graduate count of 16.

Delaware County Family Recovery Court was established in July 2019, and has since been involved with over 25 families since then. The court operates under Circuit Court 2 with Judge Kimberly Dowling and Juvenile Magistrate Amanda Yonally presiding. The participants have open Department of Child Services cases where parental substance use was an issue.

A multi-disciplinary team consisting of representatives from the Delaware County Department of Child Services, Delaware County Juvenile Court, Centerstone Behavioral Health, Firefly Children & Family Alliance, Delaware County Department of Community Corrections, and Delaware County CASA meet weekly to discuss participant progress and collaborate on case planning. The participants attend weekly hearings with Magistrate Yonally.

Family Recovery Court is a three phase program and graduates have completed Substance Use Disorder treatment, parenting classes, Recovery Coaching, and therapeutic services, among many others. Participants are expected to adhere to program responsibilities.
