The parade will begin on Riverside in a parking lot between Dicks and Dill St, traveling East on Riverside to Reserve, Reserve to Washington, Washington to High St entering the Muncie Gras event on Charles St.
Since Muncie Gras’ conception in 2002, there have been many conversations about ways for all ages to celebrate the day. This is the first year that idea of a parade has come to fruition. Anyone interested in participating in the parade is welcome. Organizers are seeking costumed individuals, musicians, dancers, hoopers, fire spinners, organizations, fraternities, sororities and businesses to join in the fun. Families are encouraged to walk in the parade or line the streets along the route.
Muncie Gras is a fundraiser for Muncie Downtown Development Partnership. The proceeds from this event enable the organization to produce free family events Downtown throughout the year.
Muncie Gras is a gated/ticketed 21+ event. If you would like to be in the parade, but are not of entry age, MITS trolleys will provide a free ride back to campus beginning at 7pm.
There is no fee to be in the parade, but participants are asked to fill out a parade participation form for planning purposes. Forms are available online downtownmuncie.org/munciegras or at this direct link.
