Muncie, IN—The Haiti Library Foundation, Inc. based out of Muncie is hosting its 7th Annual Chili Cook-Off Challenge on Saturday, February 11th. The event will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall—2600 W. Purdue Ave in Muncie. The annual event pits 12 cooking teams comprised of primarily local businesses and organizations. The teams compete against one another in various categories:
Best Chili (as determined by a panel of judges)
People’s Choice (as voted on by all attendees)
Rookie of the Year
Best Table Theme and Presentation
Top Fundraiser
This unique event begins with a “Friends of the Chef” preview party where the chefs host their family and friends. That is followed by the general admission session where all can come and sample the chilis and cast their ballots for the People’s Choice Award. Additional food and beverage are also available guaranteeing that nobody goes home hungry. (No promises that they won’t go home with a little heartburn or indigestion.)
The proceeds from this annual event benefit the Haiti Library Foundation. This is a local non-profit foundation started in 2003 by Carole and Mike Clohessy. The Haiti Library Foundation has constructed and operates a community library in Plaisance, Haiti (a community with a population of approx. 40,000 in the northern mountains of Haiti.) This library and its staff offer reading materials and programs to the various schools throughout the region.
