By: Duke Campbell—
I am a fourth generation, lifelong citizen of Delaware County and I believe I understand what is important to the Delaware County residents. I began my career in public service at the Delaware County Highway Department and eventually became County Highway Superintendent where I served until taking my current position with the City of Muncie.
Since 2012, I have served as Director of Public Works for the City of Muncie. I have worked with Mayor Dennis Tyler to enhance community safety and improve the city’s infrastructure. During my time as Director, my staff and I have worked with neighborhood residents and business owners and paved over one hundred and thirty lane miles of streets while ensuring ADA compliance.
If elected I will take the same approach to the County as I have in the City, fostering collaboration among towns and neighborhoods to improve the infrastructure and development in our community. I will address issues that have been ignored in certain areas of the county and am committed to fight for fair distribution of tax dollars in every township in Delaware County. All local communities deserve the opportunity to rebuild and modernize infrastructure to attract economic development and improve their quality of life.
I will also work closely with Delaware County Sheriff Ray Dudley to make our neighborhoods safer. That means providing all public safety professionals with the resources, training and equipment to do their jobs while using tax dollars in a common-sense manner.
The interlocal agreement with the Muncie Animal Shelter is important and I will work to strengthen that successful relationship. We need to ensure the safety and well-being of our animals.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife Pam, and our two daughters Lindsey and Kasey, granddaughter Norah, and son-in-law Mike. I have one sister, Ginger Gibbs and two brothers, Dave and Jim Campbell.
With your support, I will bring experience, fairness and common sense solutions to the office of Delaware County Commissioner.
