Last week the Muncie Journal celebrated its first year of operation by hosting an event for content contributors and founding partners at the offices of Woof Boom Radio in Muncie.

WLBC’s Steve Lindell kicked off the event, followed by remarks by J Chapman, President of Woof Boom Radio and Mike Rhodes, Publisher and Managing Editor of the Muncie Journal.

“Everyone here tells stories,” said J Chapman. “The Muncie Journal is about telling stories. The story of the Muncie Journal’s start and first year is about passion.  The Muncie Journal started because people care. All of you care about Muncie. Thank you for being part of this initiative. We should all be proud because people not just in Muncie, but cities outside our community—Indianapolis, Chicago, Fort Wayne, Fishers, Carmel and Louisville are all looking at the Muncie Journal and the stories that focus on our economic development, educational progress and what it is really like to live and work here.”

Mike Rhodes said, “I want to sincerely thank all of you for your support of the Muncie Journal this past year. You folks are the reason we have been successful. We could not do this without you. Your story content (469 published stories) has been viewed over 127,000 times  on the site as well as hundreds of thousands of social media impressions from people all over the country. On a consistent basis. Just this week we added quite a few new Muncie Journal followers on our Muncie Journal Twitter account from areas as far away as Washington DC, SW Florida and California. Many of those new followers were investors interested in new small business startups, who probably viewed the recent Madjax story.”

Mike went on to offer a few statistics from the Muncie Journal’s first year of operation.
