MUNCIE, IN—For anyone in and around Muncie, the opportunity to give back is about to present itself.
From today, October 21 until Thursday, November 21, many local businesses will be holding various food drives in conjunction with Feed My Sheep (FMS), a nonprofit that has been serving Muncie for almost 30 years.
It began in 1996 when George and Theresa Huggins were compelled to give back and provide Thanksgiving dinners to the community. Along with help from volunteers, Feed My Sheep has grown into a service that provides over a thousand meals to people in Muncie.
One such business that will be looking to give back is the Great Lakes Family Dental on McGalliard Road.
“Actually [Feed My Sheep] reached out to us about having a tote here,” said Heather, one of 15 workers at Great Lakes Family Dental who helps organize their end of the food drive. “We figured it would be an easy way to give back.”
With these food drives, businesses will have totes set up in their building. In the case of Great Lakes Family Dental Group, their tote will be in the lobby. Anyone can donate, even if you are not a patient. Just walk in, find the tote (or ask an employee if you are unable to locate it) and drop off your goods.
On Thanksgiving Day, FMS prepares a full Thanksgiving dinner including turkey and all of the various Thanksgiving Day sides one could imagine. The team from FMS will pass the meals out from the gymnasium of Muncie Central High School at 801 N Walnut St.
