MUNCIE, IN – Delaware County Sheriff Tony Skinner will lead a discussion on leadership at Shafer Leadership Academy’s Coffee Talk event titled “In Pursuit of Leadership” on July 31, 2024. The event will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Innovation Connector, located at 1208 W White River Blvd.
Sheriff Skinner, with nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience, will share insights on leadership styles, the importance of detail orientation, and the unique role of the sheriff’s office. His aim is to provide valuable lessons for anyone in or aspiring to be in a leadership position.
The Coffee Talk series, hosted by Shafer Leadership Academy, is designed to offer community members the opportunity to engage with local leaders and learn from their experiences. Sheriff Skinner emphasized the importance of public engagement and education, particularly in light of the challenges law enforcement faces today.
“Since 2020, law enforcement has been under a microscope,” said Skinner. “It’s much harder to hire and retain qualified people now. This session is a chance to educate the public about our work and share my leadership experiences.”
