MUNCIE, IN—The League of Women Voters of Muncie-Delaware County will be one of three sponsors for an Indiana Republican gubernatorial debate watch party at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in the conference room of Ball State University’s Multicultural Center.
No watch party is scheduled for the Democrat candidates for governor because Jennifer McCormick is the only candidate on the 2024 Democrat primary ballot.
Reservations for the watch party are required and should be made with David J. Roof at djroof@bsu.edu. Questions about the event also may be directed to Roof.
Because Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb has served eight years and cannot run for re-election, multiple Republicans are running in the May 7 primary to be the Republican candidate for governor in the Nov. 5 election.
“This event comes at a crucial time, as a recent poll reported 43.3% of Hoosier Republican remain undecided on which Republic gubernatorial candidate they will support in the upcoming May primary,” according to a news release from Ball State.
For those unable to attend the watch party, the gubernatorial debate will be broadcast on FOX59 and CBS4.
The Republican candidates who will participate in the debate are U.S. Sen. Mike Braun, R-Ind.; Brad Chambers, the former Indiana secretary of commerce; Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s lieutenant governor; and Eric Dowden, the former president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
Two others are running in the Republican primary for governor, but they are not listed as debate participants at this time. They are Curtis Hill, a former Indiana general attorney, and Jamie Ritenour.
Other sponsors of the event are Ball State’s Center for Economic and Civic Learning and Indiana’s Community Engaged Alliance.
