DELAWARE COUNTY, IN—Discover some of Muncie’s exciting summer programs, perfect for kids of all ages. MuncieJournal.com has put together this listing of all kinds of activities and programs kids can take part in this summer. The programs detailed below are designed to be both fun and educational, offering a mix of entertainment and learning that will create an unforgettable summer filled with excitement and knowledge.
Apply as soon as you can as most of these programs will be filling up quickly.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Muncie is offering art, music, weekly field trips, breakfast, lunch, and a snack. This is for PreK-5th and 6th-8th grade students. The program runs from June 7th to July 20th from 7:30 AM-5:30 PM. You must have a membership which is $15 per child. You can sign up online or call them at 765-282-4461.
GirlsSTEM Institute offers an interactive, real-world STEM activities program for 6th-8th grade students. The program runs from June 13th to June 24th from 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM and is free. Multigenre Writing Camp is offering a creative workshop experience writing stories, poems, and more for 3rd-8th grade students. The program focuses on the power of word choice, voice, organization, sentence fluency, organization, and presentation.The program runs from June 12th to 23rd from 9 AM- 12 PM. The summer programs this year are again FREE for campers who attend Burris, Inspire and MCS, and $180 for campers who attend other schools. You can sign up online or by calling (765) 285-8414.
Architecture+ Planning Camp is a great choice for grades 9-12. The program includes site evaluation, ecology, sustainability, planning, sketching, and 3D modeling using SketchUp. The program runs from June 19th to 23rd and costs $400. You can sign up online or call them at 765-285-5859.
DesignWorks Academy is an architecture program for high school juniors and seniors. Three credit hours of a program elective course will be waived if the student decides to enroll at Ball State for their undergraduate degree. The program runs from July 9th to 21st and costs $1,500. The Ball State Interior Design Program is for ages 14-18 high school students and gives them the opportunity to experience interior design firsthand. The program has a few different dates to choose from; most of them are between June 12th to August 4th. The program costs $800 and you can sign up and find more details online or by calling 765-285-5859.
The YMCA of Muncie offers a Summer Day Camp for K – 5th grade only at North View elementary location. The camp runs from May 30 – July 29, 2023 from 7:15 AM – 5:30 PM. Rates are $83/1-3 days for members, $114/1-3 days for non-members or $120/4-5 days for members, $142/4-5 days for non-members. All meals are provided. Apply online or call at 765-285-1987.
The Summer Learning Camp is available for 2nd graders (rising 3rd graders). Experiences include not only academics, but children take part in archery, low ropes courses, fishing, wagon rides, nature hikes. This is a free program. It runs from June 5 – June 26, 2023 from 8:00 AM – 3:15 PM. Sign up online or by call 800-382-8540.
If your child has autism and is aged between 6-12 years old, the Camp Achieve Summer Camp is designed to improve the social skills and behaviors of children as well as help maintain their current academic skills throughout the summer. This is a free program and runs from June 18 – July 19, 2023 from 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. daily. Apply online or call 765-285-5260.
The Ross Center has quite a few camps occurring this summer, here is the breakdown of each one.
Summer Steam Camp: From June 5th to June 8th, between 1-3 p.m., children aged 7-12 can immerse themselves in the captivating worlds of art, science, engineering, and endless fun. Each day promises new and exciting activities at the camp, Admission is $10.
Summer Art Camp: Taking place from June 12th to June 15th, between 1-3 p.m., children aged 7-12 will have the opportunity to explore various art crafts, fostering creativity and artistic expression.
Global Discover Day: On June 20th to June 22nd, between 1-3 p.m., children aged 7-12 will embark on an exciting cultural journey, exploring different cultures and engaging in crafts that celebrate the rich diversity of our world.
Frozen Foods Day Camp: From June 26th to June 29th, between 1-3 p.m., children aged 7-12 will indulge in an assortment of frozen food crafts, experiencing something new and delicious every day.
