STATEHOUSEA Delaware County lawmaker wants to invite local students to spend a day serving as a House Page at the Indiana Statehouse during the 2023 legislative session.

According to State Rep. Elizabeth Rowray (R-Yorktown), Hoosier students ages 13 to 18 can sign up to page and assist lawmakers and staff with daily duties while touring the governor’s office, the Indiana Supreme Court, and House and Senate chambers. She said pages will receive an excused absence from school and can participate as groups, such as Girl Scouts troops.

“Of all my duties as a representative, having local students joining me during the legislative session is one of my favorites,” Rowray said. “From FFA and student council members, as well as siblings and individuals, we welcome our students, as they bring energy to the Statehouse.”

State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) said Hoosiers can visit indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram or call 1-800-382-9841 to sign up their student to participate.

“The House Page Program is a truly great opportunity for students to see the legislative process play out in a unique way,” Prescott said. “Encouraging their interest in public service and state government is a fun part of my day, and I look forward to welcoming young Hoosiers to the Statehouse this session.”

Opportunities to page are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout session, which began on Jan. 9 and must conclude by the end of April. Students are responsible for their lunch, and transportation to and from the Statehouse.
