Whitely Community Council, The Muncie Parks Department, and Muncie Delaware Clean and Beautiful invite you to paint the town pastel on May 14th during Paint the Park Day at McCulloch Park. This exciting beautification event, part of Whitely’s Year of Color, seeks to pull the gorgeous candy colors of the Centennial Place apartments out into the rest of the Whitely neighborhood and McCulloch Park. The event will begin at 9am and continue until at least 5pm.
During the morning and early afternoon hours, volunteers will work together to paint major park structures in shades of lavender, coral, lime, and turquoise. Volunteers will also work on repair, cleanup, and gardening projects throughout the park. The day will end with a celebration of community in the newly beautified park. Harvey Wright of the Muncie Parks Department advised that there would be food, refreshments, and games for all those who volunteer.
“Paint the Park Day is not just an event designed to make McCulloch Park look better, it is a cause designed to bring unity to our community. Join us!” said President Frank Scott of Whitely Community Council.
In order to make this event and the wider Year of Color campaign a success, Whitely Community Council is actively seeking donations to help purchase paint, supplies, plants, trees, and flowers. Whitely is also requesting volunteers sign up on their website at the following address (http://www.whitelycc.org/paint-the-park/). Information about the GoFundMe campaign (https://www.gofundme.com/eszqjzfg ) currently being run by Whitely is available on the Whitely website main page as well as their Facebook page. Check donations can be mailed to Whitely Community Council at P.O. Box 665, Muncie, IN 47308. Checks should be made out to Whitely Community Council with the phrase “Year of Color” written in the memo line, to ensure the funds go to the appropriate project. Paint the community with pride, starting with our parks, on Paint the Park Day. Sign up now to be part of this exciting beautification event and make a difference in your community.
