MUNCIE, IN – Ball State University is welcoming its alumni back to campus for this year’s Homecoming, a week-long celebration that kicks off Oct. 17 and culminates with the Cardinals’ home football game Oct. 22 against Eastern Michigan at Scheumann Stadium.
This year’s Ball State Homecoming theme is “Chirp! Chirp! Fever,” which celebrates the University’s 96 years of Homecoming gatherings at its beautiful Muncie, Ind., campus.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue celebrating the annual traditions our alumni, students, faculty, and staff have come to know and love,” said Michelle Johnson, director of alumni engagement at the Ball State University Foundation. “We invite our alumni near and far, as well as the entire community, to join us as we celebrate our Ball State pride.”
This Fall’s Homecoming Week schedule is as follows:
Monday, October 17
- 6 p.m.: Homecoming Village-Food Truck Festival on the corner of Martin Street and Ashland Avenue
Tuesday, October 18
- 7:30 p.m.: Student Scholarship Talent Search at Pruis Hall (or watch it virtually the next day on the Ball State Homecoming YouTube page)
Wednesday, October 19
- 10 a.m.: Homecoming Blood Drive—schedule a time online to donate blood in the Pruis Hall lobby
- 5:30 p.m.: Campus Dinner at North Dining Hall—a Homecoming-themed dining experience
- 7 p.m.: David Letterman Distinguished Lecture Series—Stedman Graham at Sursa Hall
Thursday, October 20
- 7:30 p.m.: Air Jam & Royalty Coronation at Emens Auditorium (or watch it virtually the next day on the Ball State Homecoming YouTube page)
Friday, October 21
- Noon: Bed Race on Riverside Avenue (or catch the live stream on Ball State’s social media accounts)
Saturday, October 22
- 8:45 a.m.: Chase Charlie 5k Run/Walk starting at City Hall
- 9 a.m.: Homecoming Parade starting at Muncie Central High School through the Village and campus
- Noon: CharlieTown Tailgate outside of the Alumni Center
- 2 p.m.: Ball State vs. Eastern Michigan at Scheumann Stadium
There are also several other alumni festivities planned for Homecoming Week for graduates of the R. Wayne Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning; Miller College of Business; College of Communication, Information, and Media; College of Fine Arts; College of Health; College of Sciences and Humanities; Teachers College; and Honors College.
