Local organizations plan to register voters in Muncie, Indiana to celebrate the National Voter Registration Holiday.
MUNCIE, IN— On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, Americans will celebrate National Voter Registration Day with a massive cross-country effort to register voters well in advance of Election Day this November.
Founded in 2012, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right—the right to vote. Nearly 3 million Americans have registered to vote on the holiday since the inaugural National Voter Registration Day in 2012.
Local organizations are collaborating to encourage eligible Delaware County voters to exercise their right to be heard at the ballot box, and National Voter Registration Day is the right day to start by registering.
Therefore, communities across the country are planning to use National Voter Registration Day to increase voter participation.
Thousands of national, state, and local organizations and volunteers will be the driving force behind National Voter Registration Day 2022. Partner organizations will coordinate hundreds of National Voter Registration Day events on and offline nationwide, and leverage #NationalVoterRegistrationDay in all social media platforms to drive attention to voter registration.
The Martin Luther King Dream Team Voter Registration Committee, along with YWCA Central Indiana, Open Door Health Services, YMCA of Muncie, Heart of Indiana United Way, MITS, League of Women Voters of Muncie-Delaware, Anderson/Muncie Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC, Muncie Resist, and Indiana Black Expo Inc., Muncie Chapter are proud to be National Voter Registration Day partners.
On Tuesday, September 20th from 3:00PM-5:00PM, Mayor Dan Ridenour will proclaim September 20th as Delaware County Voter Registration Day. The partner organizations will engage with community, host an ice cream social, and register voters on the steps of Muncie City Hall. Community resource tables are welcome.
The effort’s official website: www.NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org, provides a listing of National Voter Registration Day events being held across the country, in communities, and virtually.
