MUNCIE, INDIANA – Come out for the 2022 Brink of Summer ArtsWalk happening in DWNTWN The Original Muncie on Thursday, June 2 from 5–8 p.m. This special edition of First Thursday will offer a wide variety of events celebrating the arts and culture of Muncie. Attendees are invited to welcome the summer season as they enjoy all that DWNTWN has to offer.
The Brink of Summer ArtsWalk will feature:
Flower Hour – Explore DWNTWN and collect flowers from 10 different locations to create a beautiful custom bouquet. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at downtownmuncie.org/flowerhour or from a participating sponsor or Downtown Development board or staff member. (Money raised will support DWNTWN event programming and development opportunities. This event is presented by Normandy Flower Shop, Foister’s Flowers & Gifts, Dandelions Flowers & Gifts, and Millers Flowers.
YART (a yard sale for art) at Canan Commons
Live music by the Jacob Smith Quartet at Canon Commons and The George Wolf Ensemble and America’s Hometown Band jazz combo on Walnut Street
Stage performances by Muncie Ballet Studio and Maypole Dancing
MadJax will feature artist sales and a gallery walk around the 1st and 2nd floor galleries with live music on both floors
Gordy Fine Art & Framing Co. is hosting a 5th anniversary celebration of the On the Mark, For the City mural (on the wall of the Mark III Tap Room). The four artists who planned, designed, and painted the mural will have a sale and exhibition of their work with an artists’ talk at 6:15 pm.
The Shoppe by Pink Leaf is hosting some fun hands-on activities for kids and offering BOGO for their art-designed seed packs.
At Muncie Civic Theatre, Jar Community Church will be hosting an art show. The art is created by people of all ages and skill levels and most pieces will be available for purchase.
High Street United Methodist Church (219 S High St) is hosting a slow cooker competition and is inviting the community to help in selecting the winner and enjoy the stained-glass windows and other artwork in the church. Tasting in the church parlor starts at 5 p.m. Outdoor games for children and youth activities will take place outside the church.
The fun doesn’t end when the sun goes down. Stay out with friends for After Hours Art Reels, presented by the Fickle Peach and hosted by Muncie Downtown Development Partnership. The classic coming-of-age film, Stand by Me, will be projected onto the Northwest Bank wall on Charles Street at dusk. Seating will be available on the Fickle Peach patio area for guests who are 21 and older. Those under 21 may watch from the sidewalk surrounding the patio.
ArtsWalk is a special edition of First Thursday, which occurs the first Thursday of every month DWNTWN. Free parking is available in city lots and along select streets downtown.
