YORKTOWN, Ind.—A 20-year law enforcement veteran has been named Town Marshal for the Town of Yorktown.Shane Ginnan, who most recently was Deputy Chief of Police for the City of Noblesville, assumes his new role Jan. 7.
Yorktown Town Manager Pete Olson made the announcement.
“Shane has spent a majority of his time in the patrol division and progressed up the ranks into administration,” Olson explained. “Most recently, he has spent time dealing with policy issues and working with schools in the City of Noblesville. As a community that desires to experience additional growth, Shane has worked through much of that in his current position. During the interviews, it was obvious that Shane has a great attitude and has been planning on an opportunity to lead a department for some time.”
Ginnan, who comes from a family of law enforcement officers, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Bowling Green State University and graduated from the FBI National Academy in 2014. He graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 2001.
“My father and several of my uncles and cousins have been in law enforcement as well,” he said. “It was something that I believe is a true calling and one of the most important jobs in society.”
Ginnan said he’ll quickly immerse himself in the community and will pay particular attention in Yorktown Community Schools.
“I want to be a role model for the officers and for our community,” he said. “I was instrumental in building our School Resource Officer program at the Noblesville School Corporation, and I want us to have a great relationship in Yorktown schools. Being around the staff and students in the school system is both rewarding and essential in building future relationships in our community.”
Ginnan replaces Todd St. John, who retired last summer.
