Muncie, IN—The Delaware County Convention and Tourism Commission announced at its monthly meeting today that Jim Mansfield, Executive Director of the Muncie visitors Bureau, is retiring from his position effective April 30, 2021.
Mansfield began his service to the Muncie visitors Bureau as a commission member for ten years prior to assuming the leadership position as the Executive Director in 2001.
When asked to share his thoughts, Mansfield said, “I have been fortunate to have served the community that I love for almost three decades in this capacity. I want to thank the hundreds of individuals and organizations that have worked with me to make our community a great place to work, live and raise a family. It has been a labor of love and an experience I will be eternally thankful for.”
Mansfield has been recognized and honored through the years for his efforts in promoting tourism. In 2019, Mansfield was presented with the Hoosier Hospitality Award by the Indiana Office of Tourism Development. The award is given to Hoosiers that have displayed an outstanding level of service in their tourism-related professions.
A nationwide search for the next Executive Director will be conducted later this year. The Tourism Commission will announce an interim Executive Director soon.
The Tourism Commission has hired experienced strategic planning consultants DMOproz to conduct an organizational review of the Muncie Visitors Bureau and develop a three-year strategic plan for the organization.
