Muncie, IN—A new year, a new adventure! Muncie Mission will expand one of Muncie’s biggest annual fundraising events into a virtual Walk A Mile in My Shoes WALK WEEK for 2021. From February 8 through 13, supporters are invited to take a solo walk and report their progress as we collectively seek to log over 1000 miles… raising hope with every step.
Every day hurting neighbors take to the street… some searching for food, clothing, or other resources; others simply seeking an escape. Some don’t know why they walk, and most walk alone.
For 16 years we have braved the cold to bring hope to our struggling neighbors… the hungry, the homeless, and those broken by addictions. This year COVID-19 has elevated anxieties, threatened jobs, disrupted routines, and pushed even more families to the brink of desperation. This year we are all sharing the burdens of loneliness and isolation. They walk alone… and we walk alone.
Participants in WALK WEEK can fire up their treadmills, take a trek around the neighborhood, or challenge themselves to complete one or more featured outdoor route-of-the-day circuits between February 8 and 13. Walkers can stop at the Muncie Mission any day of WALK WEEK to drop off donations, pick up a t-shirt, and snap a selfie with the Big Red Shoe. Church, school, and work teams can tally their progress and watch the community leaderboard grow as we seek to top the goal of 1000 miles walked. Register and learn more at www.munciemission.org/walk.
In its 17th year, Walk A Mile in My Shoes will look a little different, but the needs of our neighbors are growing, and the heart of our community is strong! Join us for WALK WEEK 2021.
