Muncie, IN – Mursix Corporation, a leading supplier of precision components to the automotive, alternative energy, appliance, and security markets, has announced that it has acquired Dakota Engineering, Inc., an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer of CNC-machined products for the automotive, medical, security, and other industries.
In making the announcement, Mursix CEO Todd Murray stated “This is great news for our company, our associates, our customers and for our host community – Delaware County. For our customers, Dakota’s capabilities in sophisticated horizontal and vertical CNC machining will strengthen the already extensive portfolio of manufacturing solutions that they have come to expect from Mursix.”
Murray went on to say that “This acquisition –and the 22 jobs that it will bring to Delaware County– is just the latest example of how we have continued to invest in our company and in our community.” Murray noted that, at the time of the company’s founding in 1990, it had 28 employees and about $2 million in annual sales. Today, Mursix employs over 300 employees and generates about $40 million in sales each year. Murray commented that “the Murray family is proud to have invested more than $43 million into growing the business over the past 25 years.”
Mursix worked with Delaware County officials to help bring the 22 jobs and nearly $2 million in new taxable machinery to its plant in Yorktown. At the January meeting of the Delaware County Redevelopment Commission, the Commission approved a $150,000 incentive from existing TIF funds that will assist Mursix in both purchasing and moving the new machinery to Park One. Brad Bookout, Director of Economic Development and Redevelopment for the County, commented that “Mursix and Delaware County are continuing their longstanding tradition of cooperating in the continued growth of Park One. Mursix has been an incredible partner for Delaware County and has far exceeded its commitments on all previous incentives. It’s always a great pleasure to work with them.”
Members of the Delaware County Commissioners were equally enthusiastic.
President Shannon Henry said, “My primary task after becoming Commissioner was to ensure that our economic development team focused on and assisted local companies. I am proud to have Todd Murray and his team as local business leaders in our community.”
Commissioner Sherry Riggin said, “Mursix Corporation continues to grow and it is vitally important that we stand ready to continue to support their success.”
Commissioner James King said, “Todd Murray and the entire Mursix team have continued to make us proud in Delaware County. Their exceptional growth has led to well over 300 jobs and their growth with buildings and equipment is continuing to add to our tax base. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with them and witness their success first hand.”
