Muncie, IN—Madjax is excited to host Muncie’s inaugural VEX Robotics Tournament on February 1, 2020. This family-friendly event is part of a broader Madjax-led Future of Work Initiative designed in response to feedback from both local workforce and educational leaders about the need to strengthen the pipeline of local skills and talent. “Purdue Polytechnic is glad to be a partner in providing innovative and collaborative learning opportunities for the current and future workforce in Delaware County,” said Corey Sharp, director of the Purdue Polytechnic Anderson campus. “Funding provided by the Ball Brothers Foundation has given us the ability to support the ECI Vex Robotics League by providing teacher training, group practices, and equipment to expand robotics programming in Delaware and Madison County Schools.”
Two Delaware County schools, Delta High School and Wes-Del High School will be competing in the tournament. The event is designed to support first-year teams throughout the state who are new to robotics and working on skills to build their competitive advantage. Kyle Love, head coach of the Jay County Robotics Team, serves as the Tournament Manger. “Jay County has seen great success in building a world-class competitive robotics program,” said Love. “We are proud to help mentor and support other local teams as they start their journey in robotics education.”
Supported by Purdue Polytechnic, The Muncie Technology and Engineering Network, and Jay County Robotics, this event is designed to support local schools in increasing access to STEAM educational opportunities. Admittance to view the event and cheer on our local teams is free. The competition will run from 9a.m. to 5p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020.
