Muncie, IN—The Muncie Symphony Orchestra and The International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (IVCI) will join forces this Saturday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. in Emens Auditorium. In celebration of the MSO’s 70th Season, the concert will feature the gold, silver, and bronze medalists of this prestigious international violin competition as well as Muncie’s own Youth Symphony Orchestra of East Central Indiana.
“For the first time, all three International Violin Competition of Indianapolis medal winners will perform together in concert,” said Artistic Director and Conductor, Douglas Droste. “We hope the Muncie community and beyond will appreciate this unique and special occasion. As a violinist, this will be one of my favorite concerts we’ve done.”

The concert will open with an exciting side-by-side performance of Catskill Legend by Paul Whear with The Muncie Symphony and The Youth Symphony Orchestra. The first half of the concert will feature Luke Hsu, IVCI Bronze Medalist and Risa Hokamura, IVCI Silver Medalist. After intermission, the second half will begin with Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italienand will feature Richard Lin, IVCI Gold Medalist.
Come early to view the beautiful music- inspired artwork provided by Cornerstone Center for the Arts, Longfellow Elementary students and Wes Del Elementary students. Complimentary refreshments will be offered at intermission in the George and Frances Ball Foundation lobby.
