Muncie, IN—At 9am on June 15th, Sephora Inside JCPenney opened at the Muncie Mall.
JCPenney general manager Ebony Martin estimated 300-400 people were lined up to get inside for the 9am grand opening. She said, “At Sephora our customers get to do four things: You touch. You try. You Play. You learn. When you come into our beauty studio, one of our product consultants will sit down with you and teach you things. Like skin care, fragrance, how to get that smokey-eye look. Those kinds of things. When you leave Sephora, you’ll leave with the tools you need to get the beauty look you want.”
“The addition of Sephora to JCPenney is really great. There are not many stores in Muncie that specifically cater to beauty. There’s something for everyone inside Sephora. With Carson’s closing and Sears closing, the store is great for the mall. It will bring a different demographic to the mall, and one we are really excited to capitalize on.” —JCPenney general manager Ebony Martin
Sarah Osborne from Muncie was lucky enough to be first in line at the grand opening. She left her home about 5am to get to the mall. Sarah said there were a number of people who slept in their cars overnight in order to be one of the first people in line. Somehow, she got lucky to be first in line.
“I love Sephora because they have such a vast array of makeup and skin care options,” Sarah said. “I’m all about that. I’m an esthetician here in Muncie, so Sephora is a great place for skin care options.”
The grand opening allowed the first 100 customers to receive a stash of “Sephora Inside JCPenney” gift cards with mystery values up to $100, in addition to free gift bags stuffed with product samples. Kim Morris of 104.1 WLBC was also on-location with a live broadcast during the grand opening event.
