Muncie, INUnited Way of Delaware County will host a final Day of Giving on Thursday, Dec. 21 to end the 2017 campaign on a high note. The campaign team has set a goal of $10,000 in the hopes that a local sponsor will match Day of Giving donations.

After nearly a year of community support and focused campaign strategy, Campaign Chair Casey Stanley will host United Way’s Day of Giving via a Facebook fundraiser. Donors can participate in the fundraiser by visiting the United Way of Delaware County Facebook page, where visitors can view the promotion’s progress toward the $10,000 goal. All First Merchants Bank and MutualBank locations in Delaware County will also be accepting cash and check donations on behalf of United Way.

“This Day of Giving is our community’s final chance to rally behind the 2017 campaign and show support for the hardworking families in Delaware County,” said Stanley. “Every dollar changes the future of our community long term.”

For the 2017 campaign, United Way is fortunate that the Ball Brothers Foundation, George and Frances Ball Foundation, and the UnitedIN16 Grant from the Indiana United Ways have covered administrative and overhead costs, which comprised 15.73 percent of expenses. This means that 100 percent of donor dollars are directly dedicated to impact through local community programs right here in Delaware County.

In an effort to Identify the Obstacles, Take on the Impossible, and Conquer Generational Poverty, United Way strategically supports 29 programs for local nonprofits that most effectively meet our community’s health, education, and financial stability needs.

About United Way of Delaware County

United Way of Delaware County, Indiana engages the community to improve lives by focusing resources on education, health, and financial stability. The nonprofit fights to create lasting change in community conditions. As the sponsoring organization for the community’s Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, United Way works to help children read at or above grade level by the end of their third-grade year. It is during this critical time that children transition from learning how to read, into readers who learn from what they have read. United Way strategically invests in local programs that provide services that contribute to children’s success with reading and ultimately aim to end generational poverty in Delaware County.
