Muncie, IN—The 2017 Delaware County Fair Queen Pageant is Saturday July 8 at 7pm. The pageant will be held in the Northside Middle School Auditorium in Muncie, Indiana. The Delaware County Fair Board requires all contestants register by Monday, June 26, 2017. Registration must include a sponsor fee of $100.00. Rules
Miss Delaware County Fair Queen will be given a $750.00 cash award, gifts, a tiara, and roses.
1st runner up- $250.00
2nd runner up- $150.00
Miss Congeniality – $100.00
1. Each Contestant must be at least 18 years of age (by June 1, 2018) and cannot have reached their 22nd birthday on or before June 1, 2018.
2. Each contestant must be a Delaware County resident. One of her parents or legal guardian must also be a Delaware County resident.
3. Any contestant who has competed in a prior Delaware County Fair Queen Pageant and has not been crowned “Miss Delaware County” is eligible to compete.
4. A professional model is not eligible to compete in the Delaware County Fair Queen Pageant. (A professional model is one who earns her livelihood by modeling.) A contestant who has training or schooling in the modeling field, has been paid on occasion for modeling, or works for a fashion board is not considered a professional model and may compete.
Delaware County Fair Queen Pageant contestants will be judged on the basis of poise, personality, and ability to converse. The judging is divided into three divisions:
Interview and Question: 50 percent of scoring
Each contestant will have one, three-minute interview with each of the three judges. Therefore, each contestant will give three separate interviews (9-minute total), answering impromptu questions asked by each judge. Interviews will be conducted on July 8, 2017, are private and not open to the public.
Attire: Black pants or skirt and white blouse –any combination of black bottoms and white top will be allowed. Pant suits or pant separates will be allowed:
Prepared Speech: 10 percent of scoring
Each contestant will prepare a speech no longer than one (1) minute, on the topic of their choice. Speeches will be scored on natural speaking ability, delivery, poise and originality. Each speech will be timed, with one (1) point deducted for speeches going over one-minute. Props, music and audio-visuals will not be allowed.
Speeches will be delivered at a microphone, on a stand as part of the Professional Wear competition.
Division 2: Evening Gown – 20 percent of scoring
Overall Impression: 15 points
Attire: Long Evening Gown – At least one portion of the evening gown hemline needs to be floor length (touching the floor or contestant’s foot). Other portions of the dress may be knee or tea length, depending on the design of the gown.
Division 3: Professional Wear – 20 percent of scoring
Attire: Suit, Pant Suit or Dress – Pant suits or pant separates will be allowed. Suit does not have to be the same fabric, separates will be allowed.
