MUNCIE, IN — On Thursday, March 5th, Mayor Dan Ridenour and County Commissioner Stephen Brand jointly delivered a State of the Community presentation outlining recent accomplishments, ongoing partnerships, and a shared vision focused on growth, public safety, infrastructure investment, and responsible governance.
The event emphasized the importance of collaboration between the city and county governments in delivering efficient services and advancing initiatives that benefit residents throughout the community.
The Mayor and Commissioner highlighted continued cooperation on key projects, including public safety services, planning and development efforts, infrastructure improvements, and community investments. Joint initiatives have strengthened coordination across agencies while improving service delivery and long-term planning.
Economic development remains a central priority, with leaders focusing on business retention and expansion, housing development, workforce attraction, and regional partnerships designed to support sustainable growth and improve quality of life. Accomplishments highlighted include over 1200 new housing units, an increase in population by over 1000 individuals, and an increase in LIT tax revenue, indicating salary growth.
Public safety agencies were recognized for their ongoing modernization efforts, training initiatives, and strong interagency cooperation, which enhance emergency preparedness and community protection.
Both Mayor Ridenour and Commissioner Brand emphasized fiscal responsibility through operational efficiencies, infrastructure improvements, roadway projects, and other community investment efforts like parks to elevate the standard of living. “This presentation highlights the progress that can be made when local governments work together with a shared purpose,” said Mayor Ridenour. “By continuing to collaborate, we are helping build a stronger future for our entire community,” stated Commissioner Brand.
