MUNCIE, IN – Shafer Leadership Academy (SLA) is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the CenterPoint Energy Foundation. This generous funding will provide five scholarships for the upcoming Emergence: Personal Foundations of Effective Leadership program, scheduled to begin on April 3, 2025.
The scholarships aim to support neighborhood association leaders, nonprofit professionals, and individuals from underrepresented communities, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities. This initiative aligns with Shafer Leadership Academy’s commitment to fostering inclusive leadership development and creating opportunities for diverse voices in leadership.
“We are thrilled to partner with the CenterPoint Energy Foundation,” said Mitch Isaacs, Executive Director of Shafer Leadership Academy. “This grant allows us to expand access to Emergence for individuals who are making a meaningful impact in their communities but may not otherwise have the resources to participate. We’re excited to see the positive ripple effects this will have on our community.”
Emergence is Shafer Leadership Academy’s signature eight-week leadership program designed to provide participants with the tools and confidence to lead change in their organizations, civic groups, and communities. The program is highly interactive, fostering collaboration and engagement among emerging and experienced leaders.
The grant from CenterPoint Energy Foundation represents an exciting opportunity to build a new partnership while advancing Shafer Leadership Academy’s mission of providing inclusive leadership development.
