MUNCIE, IN —Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is extending the ongoing work on the Tillotson Avenue Transmission Line Project due to damage found in the existing underground infrastructure.

Crews working to improve the electric reliability for customers in the area planned to install a new power line in an existing underground duct bank, which was found to be damaged. The duct bank is necessary for installing new power lines. As a result, a section along York Prairie Creek off Tillotson Avenue needs to be rebuilt.

I&M is working directly with landowners along the creek for access to make repairs.

Lane restrictions on Tillotson Avenue continue but will be reduced to the stretch between West Petty Road and West Euclid Avenue, with the intersection of Tillotson and West Petty closed, through Summer 2025. Detours will be posted.

“Our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to get things back to normal for our neighbors in Muncie,” said Rob Keisling, external affairs manager. “We continue to work with the city and road repaving will be coordinated when the project is complete.”

While repairs are ongoing, crews will also begin preparing for construction by clearing vegetation along the overhead transmission line between two area substations. Construction on the overhead line begins spring 2025 and continues through summer 2026.

I&M will provide updates ahead of changes in traffic control plans.

I&M appreciates the continued patience of our customers as we work to upgrade power lines and improve our service in the area. For the latest project updates, please visit http://www.IndianaMichiganPower.com/TillotsonAvenue.
