MUNCIE, IN – Community members can receive no-cost COVID-19 tests on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Open Door Health Services administration site in Muncie. The site is located at 220 S. Walnut Street. Distribution will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.

The public is invited to pick up a supply for homes, workplaces, or civic groups. Additionally, Open Door patients may pick up Covid tests during any visit to an Open Door health center location.

Tests will soon also be available to U.S. households through a federal government program. Households will be able to order 4 free tests, with home delivery, from covidtest.gov starting in late September.

The updated 2024-2025 Covid vaccine will be available to the public at Open Door Urgent Care this fall. The updated version will target current strains. CDC recommends everyone ages 6 months and older receive the 2024-2025 vaccine. People who have recently had Covid may delay vaccination by 3 months.

Flu and RSV vaccination will also be available to the public at Open Door Urgent Care. CDC recommends flu vaccination for everyone ages 6 months and older, with limited exceptions. Full flu and RSV vaccination guidelines are at cdc.gov.

In 2023, more than 916,300 people were hospitalized and more than 75,000 died due to Covid, CDC reports. More than 44,900 people died from flu complications in the 2023-24 flu season.
