MUNCIE, IN – Little Red Door Cancer Agency has been offering FREE therapeutic oncology massage for cancer patients and survivors since 2016. Oncology massage therapy has been shown to dramatically improve the quality of life of those on the cancer continuum. Little Red Door’s oncology massage program has shown tremendous success in its Indianapolis office and is excited to bring oncology massage back to the Muncie office, located at 413 S. Tillotson Avenue in Unit 9.
“We are beyond excited to bring therapeutic oncology massage back to our community. Before COVID, there was a short window of time that we were able to offer this program, but now that we are settled into our new office space, we have time to focus on expanding our wellness programming, starting with therapeutic oncology massage,” states Little Red Door Chief of Client Services and Programs, Tiffany Kerrigan. “Oncology massage is one of our most effective complementary therapies as it helps decrease the effects of neuropathy and lymphedema from treatment, as well as reduce pain and restricted mobility. It’s also been shown to minimize fatigue, improve sleep, and enhance overall well-being,” she continues.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi, Little Red Door will be able to launch FREE oncology massage at its Muncie office this August, starting on August 13th. Angie Simon, a certified oncology massage therapist will be on-site every other Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
“I felt called to do cancer massage after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023,” states Simon. I’m a one-year cancer survivor. I look forward to working with cancer patients to bring comfort during this challenging time in their life.”
Kerrigan emphasizes, “So much of the touch during cancer treatment is negative touch associated with surgery and treatment, but oncological massage provides positive, comforting touch.”
