MUNCIE, IN—The Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2024 National Civics Bee® in Delaware County on April 9, 2024. The National Civics Bee® is an initiative aimed at encouraging young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Hunter R., Noah C., and Braxton J. were named the top three finalists of Delaware County’s Civics Bee competition, organized in partnership with The Civic Trust® of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Hunter R. from Delta Middle School (first place) and Braxton J. from Southside Middle School (third place) competed in the state competition on August 23, 2024, at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. The event was hosted by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Indiana Department of Education.

Both students did a great job showing off their civics knowledge and representing our community well. Hunter was awarded third place overall and received a prize of $250.

“We are very proud of the students who competed in the National Civics Bee®,” said Elizabeth Rowray, President and CEO of the Greater Muncie Chamber of Commerce.  “Their dedication to understanding the foundations of our democracy is inspiring. Through their participation, they exemplify the importance of civic engagement and the power of knowledge in shaping our collective future. The future of civics in our community is bright!”
