MUNCIE, IN—Soup Crawl is a delicious and heartwarming event benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana. Held in downtown Muncie on Thursday, October 3rd from 5pm to 8pm, the 12th annual Soup Crawl features a variety of soups from local restaurants, all for a good cause.

“Last year, despite the rain, we had an incredible turnout and saw the Emily Kimbrough Museum take home the Vicky Copley People’s Choice Award. It was a close race, though. We had some big surprises with really popular soups from new participants, and one, Mama and Sons, I hear even added their entry to the menu due to its popularity.” shares Nate Huff, Marketing Manager at Second Harvest and Soup Crawl organizer.

Soup Crawl is a fun and festive event that benefits Second Harvest Food Bank’s The Big Idea initiative. For just $20, you can stroll the streets of historic downtown Muncie and sample delicious soups from downtown and other area restaurants, caterers, and organizations. In addition to enjoying delicious soup, you can also learn about Second Harvest, which works to break the cycle of generational poverty by providing tools to support child development as a foundation for lifelong sustainability.

Last year’s Soup Crawl was the most successful yet. “The enthusiasm in the air was exciting to see,” said Ben Polk, a PrimeTrust employee and event organizer. “We were thrilled to raise over $35,000 for Second Harvest Food Bank. Delaware County residents’ needs are ever-increasing, and PrimeTrust is honored to play a role in supporting our community.”

Tickets for Soup Crawl are limited, and organizers expect the event to sell out. Tickets will go up for sale in August. If you would like to be the first to know when tickets are available, you can sign up for updates at curehunger.org/soup-crawl. To learn more about Soup Crawl and the participating restaurants, businesses, and organizations, please visit Facebook.com/SoupCrawl.

Neither Soup Crawl nor the work of Second Harvest Food Bank could happen without community support. Sponsorships and volunteer opportunities are available. Please contact Katie Morey (KMorey@curehunger.org) if you are interested in supporting Soup Crawl and Second Harvest.

Limited spots are available to join as a soup vendor at the event. Utensils and cups are provided, limiting the cost of serving your best soup to that of ingredients and your time. Contact Ben Polk at ben.polk@primetrustcu.com for additional information.
