Indiana Black Expo Muncie Chapter To Name 2024 Honorees in African American Culture

MUNCIE, IN—Indiana Black Expo Muncie Chapter will “Celebrate Culture, Heritage, and Community” and honor contributors to African American culture, progress and achievement in Muncie-Delaware County on Thursday, July 18, 2024 during its 29th Annual Corporate Luncheon. This year’s theme is Educate. Empower. Elevate.

Mayor Dan Ridenour will provide opening remarks and luncheon keynote, Muncie native, Dr. Mia Johnson, Chancellor of Ivy Tech Anderson, will highlight the power of education and community. Community awards will be presented to local individuals and organizations for their work in the African American community and beyond.  The luncheon, which takes place at 11:30 a.m. at the Ivy Tech John and Janice Fisher Building, is part of Indiana Black Expo Muncie Chapter’s annual Summer Celebration at Heekin Park, Saturday, July 19th-Sunday, July 21, 2024.

The celebration weekend features city-wide prayer, celebration parade, free concert, vendors, food, and more. This year’s celebration, in collaboration with the City of Muncie Parks and Recreation, honors the life & legacy of the late Community Activist, and IBE champion, Demetrius “Dee” Harris.
