MUNCIE, IN – Muncie Community Schools (MCS) has filled its opening for an assistant superintendent by promoting Eric Grim from his current position as the district’s director of secondary education. Grim has worked for MCS in a variety of roles for the past 26 years, including five years as the principal of Northside Middle School.

Grim succeeds Dr. Chuck Reynolds who will become MCS’ new director of public education and CEO once Dr. Lee Ann Kwiatkowski, the current CEO, retires at the end of June. Both Grim and Dr. Reynolds will begin their new posts July 1.

“We had several great candidates apply for this opening, but Eric really stood out,” Dr. Reynolds said. “He is always all about what’s best for students, and his many years of experience with Muncie Schools will serve him well in this new assignment.”

As assistant superintendent, Grim will supervise district directors, oversee school security and help execute many facets of the MCS Strategic Plan. In addition, he will coordinate Ball State student teachers in MCS buildings as well as BSU research projects involving MCS students, staff and families.

“Muncie Community Schools is full of talented, dedicated educators I’m proud to work with every day,” he said. “I’ve known and respected Dr. Reynolds for a long time, so the opportunity to join him to continue the progress we’ve made in recent years is exciting to me and I can’t wait to get started.”

As the director of secondary education the past two years, Grim supports administrators at both of the district’s middle schools and Muncie Central High School. His previous positions also include being a middle school science teacher and assistant principal as well as an elementary school principal. His wife, Jennifer, has been a 2nd grade teacher for 26 years. The couple have two children.
