MUNCIE, IN—-The YMCA of Muncie is thrilled to announce a transformative $2 million gift from philanthropists Dan and Cassidy Towriss. This generous contribution will play a pivotal role in the development of the new YMCA facility on the campus of Muncie Central High School.
The Towriss’ commitment to the community shines through this substantial contribution, highlighting their dedication to fostering wellness, community engagement, and educational opportunities. The funds will directly support the construction and enhancement of the new YMCA facility, creating a dynamic hub for health and wellness conveniently located within the heart of Muncie.
“This extraordinary gift from Dan and Cassidy Towriss marks a significant milestone in our capital campaign,” says Chad Zaucha, CEO of the YMCA of Muncie. “Their commitment to investing in our community will not only elevate the quality of our facilities but also expand our ability to serve the diverse needs of Muncie and Delaware County residents.”
The new YMCA facility on the campus of Muncie Central High School – where Dan Towriss attended high school and played baseball — is poised to be a cornerstone for community well-being, offering state-of-the-art fitness amenities, versatile programming for all age groups, and a welcoming space for families to connect and thrive.
Construction began late in 2023 with an anticipated grand opening in early 2025.
Dan and Cassidy Towriss expressed their enthusiasm for this initiative, stating: “We strongly believe in the power of community and the positive impact that organizations such as the YMCA can have on individuals and families.
