MUNCIE, IN — Ball State University is offering the 30-credit Indiana College Core (ICC) curriculum to Hoosier high school students, beginning this Fall. Through Ball State’s Dual Credit Program, students can complete the ICC curriculum during regular school hours either 100 percent online, on-site at their high schools, or as a mix of online and on-site. Students can take dual-credit courses while satisfying their academic requirements for high school graduation.
Dual-credit students can save thousands of dollars by completing the ICC curriculum. Equivalent to college courses offered at Ball State, these dual-credit courses can be applied toward a Ball State bachelor’s program—accelerating progress toward a Ball State bachelor’s degree—or transferred to a regionally accredited college or university.
“The Indiana College Core provides many educational opportunities for Indiana’s students as they prepare for the future,” said Dr. James Hendrix, assistant director of high school and statewide initiatives in Ball State’s Dual Credit Program office. “For example, students who take part in Ball State’s Dual Credit Program benefit from early exposure to college course work and strengthen their chances of being accepted to the regionally accredited college or university of their choice—including Ball State.”
To ensure instructional quality, the educators who teach dual-credit courses on-site at Indiana high schools are approved as Ball State adjunct faculty. Online courses are taught by Ball State professors. Additionally, Ball State’s experienced and qualified staff are available to support students.
“Offering the Indiana College Core through Ball State’s Dual Credit Program was a natural fit, given the longstanding reputation for high-quality education our University provides,” said Dr. Trudi Weyermann, assistant provost for Learning Initiatives in Ball State’s Division of Online and Strategic Learning. “We take immense pride in our dual-credit offerings and hope to see educators throughout the state encourage their high school students to take advantage of how Ball State can accelerate their college careers.”
