MUNCIE, IN—IU Health Ball physicians, leaders, and clinicians gathered today to recognize their outpatient Wound Healing Center, a recipient of the Center of Distinction award by Healogics®, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction rate higher than 92 percent.
“We are so proud of our team at the Wound Healing Center,” said Terry Pence, vice president – operations, IU Health Ball. “We are excited to be a Center of Distinction and a part of leading healthcare for the East Central Region.”
The Center is a member of the Healogics® network of over 600 Wound Care Centers and offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time.
Advanced wound care modalities provided by the Wound Healing Center experts include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings, and growth factor therapies. The facility also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with one hundred percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.
“Our team works hard every single day and we strive to provide the best care for our patients,” said Summer Bertram, BSN, RN, CWOCN, program director. “This is truly a patient first environment, and I am very proud of our team for this achievement. We ended 2022 with a patient satisfaction rate of 93.13% and a healing rate of 91.91%. These are huge accomplishments.”
Located at 2901 W Jackson in Muncie, IN, the Wound Healing Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Referrals are taken by fax at 765.751.5059 or by phone at 765.751.5010. Appointments are required.
